Developing a Gender Stereotype in Children

Gender stereotypes are a set of beliefs about the characteristics that fit into women and men. Generally after child birth parents tend to give unequal treatment of boys and girls. Over time these differences would also appear on haircuts, clothes and kinds of toys, and others. During the period of child development and adult peer groups provide support for this distinction. The boy is believed to tend to the dominant, aggressive, and independent while girls tend to be caring, patient, and dependent.

Girls and boys learn gender roles through imitating or observing, for example by observing what people do and say. Through the child's parents learn about gender roles, which is why old ornag said to be the most influential figure in the development of gender. Several factors can influence the formation of gender stereotypes in children are:

    1. Parent Influence
Mothers and fathers are psychologically play a role in gender development of children. Mother is consistently responsible for the care, while fathers more involved in the interaction of playing with the kids and instill responsibility for a boy or girl obedient to cultural norms. Unwittingly, the father is an important part in the development of gender on a mother because fathers tend to react differently in boys and girls.
    2. Peer Group Influence
Peer groups tend to support the child untukterlibat in activities appropriate to its type. Groups tend to denounce the children involved in games that do not correspond to their gender. Such demands will only become more prominent towards adolescence.
    3. Effect of Schools and Teachers
When entering the school-age children know and believe that there are some stereotypes sperti work, personality, and the desire to achieve. There is a belief that boys are superior in math and athletics, while girls in art lessons, music, and skills. These gender stereotypes mneguatkan ank-child behavior in school-age girls who are not prominent in math.
    4. The Mass Media Influence
Various news is presented through the mass media can be influential in the development of gender.
To reduce gender stereotypes in children can be done in different ways by parents. For example, parents help children to better understand the gender roles of men and women. Parents should appreciate anything that kids do not because he is male or female. For example, a woman can be president and can also understand why a father can also take care of her children at home, preparing food and others.

Children also need to be aware of the non-stereotypical gender in society. Although gender roles in society differ between men and women but that role may change depending on circumstances and needs. For example, many found the scope of work or men career occupied by women. In this case the parents need to explain the reasons for the selection of career interests and skills that better define the selection of a person's career.

Give Chance To Children For Learn

    Parenting Learn Experience

Parenting Experience Blog this time will discuss about how we give children the opportunity to learn. Like aa piece of of paper a child is a sheet of white paper that is still clean . Let the paper that crossed-painted graffiti as long as it is beautiful. As parents our job is to remove graffiti that does not mean that until later on there was only a beautiful picture.

Suppose your child is just starting to walk and then he fell, what would you do? Falls are common in the process of learning to walk then do not respond with panic. Child falls later crying is a natural process of becoming an adult. Give him a little help so he knows how to bear the pain and tried to get up.

As well as dealing with the problem we just need to give support and give confidence to them. Suppose your child is elementary school age and have constraints on math lessons then you should never give an immediate response is instant, but give a description of how to produce an answer without giving the answer to that question.

A child does not need instant relief, but what is needed is a direction to solve their own problems. If a child is given instant relief then he will be addicted to all things by way of instant too. He just wanted something in the form so without knowing how the process to make it complete. With like that then indirectly we have made them to learn lazy.

More training make them know how to resolve their problems. So if they encountered many problems then they will also be good to face the problem. the more often he is having problems the faster adult way of thinking. A child has a duty to learn and parents have the duty to directing it is a law that must be adhered to if you want your child succeed.

What if my child is difficult to be directed? To be able to teach something to children is to teach him a powerful weapon with a routine that's the only way. So you should never give up to remind the good things to your child. With that habit then a child will feel uncomfortable when he was breaking that has become his habit. A child has a soft way of thinking so easy to memorize something rather than an old person.

Nurture empathy in parents so that we can feel what is perceived by others. Thus we will actually realize the emotions felt by the child as a child and not the emotions that we expect. Concern and awareness of children's emotions will make the child feel understood and accepted. If parents can implement this point it will become a basis of the willingness of children to also want to understand what is expected by their parents because of feelings of calm and comfort they get from their parents.
    2. Recognizing emotion as an opportunity for closeness and educate

By acknowledging and recognizing the emotions the child then the child will feel calm and the role of parents increasingly felt by anak.Usahakan do not ignore the negative feelings that children will gradually disappear as well. The new negative feelings would disappear if the child can talk about their emotions honestly. Recognition of emotion as early as possible would be healthy before they become crises.

Expressions of empathy for the parents many starts when children are still infants. The way parents perceive, react when a child wetting the bed or hunger, and thirst is an effort of parents to indicate the presence of empathy, which can foster emotional closeness. As soon as children grow older, parents need to take time to listen to complaints from children and help provide the name of the emotions they felt that the child feels understood emotional.
    4. Helping children to name the emotion with words
The more clearly we use a lot of names that describe the perceived emotional content of children as tense, upset, anxious, angry, sad, and scared the kids would be better to understand his own feelings that will be able to describe it verbally and not just non-verbal. We will better understand if a child suddenly reveal the words "I'm upset with the A, because he took my favorite cake without asking"
    5. Set limits while helping children solve problems
Once we are willing to listen and help the child to name and understand his emotions then the next is to assist children in solving problems based on the norms and constraints in its environment. Help your child to set goals to be achieved and choose one of the most possible solution.

Tips For Changing The Child Behaviour

Children have different personalities from one another. There is no conventional way of how to shape the character of a child because every child has different way to understand something. But I think there are some general things that can affect their behavior.
    1. GOOD EXAMPLE OF THEIR PARENTS
Each child will mimic what their parents do. As I mentioned earlier in our education about children "Education for children cans be done anywhere not just in school. School is just a formal education but Actually a true education in the environment he lives Nowhere. Could Habit is what shapes his character. The boy was like the water he will of follow the form of container. If a child lives in the neighborhood gangsters sure he'll be a bandit, but if he lives in a neighborhood good guy then he would be a good person too."  Parents are an example for a child and it greatly affects how they grow.
    2. TEACH CHILDREN TO OBEY
Teach children to obey the rules. Later a child will become part of society so they should learn about how to comply with a rule. For example, create a schedule to be obeyed by the child. Suppose about what time they should wake up, what time they should learn, or what time they have to sleep. Apart from teaching to comply with the implementation schedule like that would make children become aware of their rights and obligations.
    3. GIVE CHILDREN OPPORTUNITIES FOR SELF EXPRESSION
Parents should not be too curb child. Let the child do what he wants. From what they did we become aware of how to address a child's attitude thing. Children will express in their own way is what makes each child is different. How do children get angry, happy, sad it all is the natural learning that they must pass.
    4. UNDERSTAND YOUR CHILD'S PERSPECTIVE
This view is wrong is the reason they do things wrong. The correction of their behavior is the most valuable contribution to shaping the character of the child. When children do wrong they think what they are doing is the right thing. That view will not change unless they can see it from the right perspective. Parents become a guide for children can know what is wrong and what is right.
